Description

In order to ensure the survival of the pygmies in the Central African Republic a new intervention project has been launched in Pretoria, South Africa. Pioneered by the African Women in Leadership Organisation South Africa, the project will embark on training more than 15000 pygmies in different regions of the CAR. Pygmies are an African people found in the Central African Forest belt who are identifiable by their short height and the cultural characteristic of being hunter gatherers. The current challenges for the survival of pygmies is urban encroachment, deforestation and modernisation.
