The East African Community has been cited as the most integrated region in Africa. This is according to the Africa Regional Integration Index report which was launched at the beginning of April in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. This is the first initiative to be developed to measure the progress on regional integration in the continent. Africa has spent much of the past decade investing in physical infrastructure, but it must not forget the development of human capital, the report urges. Investing in education, particularly in science and technology, will bring about great gains for the citizens of the continent.
