Description

The SADC Extraordinary Double Troika meeting met last week in Luanda, Angola. At the top of the agenda were Lesotho, DRC and Madagascar. The Chairperson of SADC who is also President of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa opened the meeting acknowledging that whilst there were various challenges in the region, considerable progress had been made and the region was stable. With elections coming up in countries like Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Swaziland and the DRC, the SADC meeting conceded that there would need to be a commitment from ruling parties and opposition parties to ensure smooth, free and fair elections.
