Description

At the beginning of this month South Africa’s President Cyril Ramaphosa launched October as the country’s Transport Month. Alongside the president the minister of transport Fikile Mbalula launched new programs of road safety. However, South Africa does not only have a challenge with road safety but it has a public transport system which does not equally accommodate all South Africans, and if so it is either too pricey or too fragmented for its users. On this program Benjamin Moshatama speaks to experts looking at South Africa’s challenges in the face of the emphasis of intra-trade and intra-travel on the Africa continent.
He spoke to:
• Leslie Mpofu, Director of the Trans Kalahari Corridor Secretariat

• Unathi Henama Tourism/transport analyst

• David King Project Manager for Cape Town Air Access at Wesgro, a tourism, trade and investment promotion agency
