As nationwide protests in the United States of America continue anti-police brutality protests sweep the United States, new charges were announced in the death of George Floyd. Floyd, a 46- year old African American man, died last week in the state of Minnesota when a police officer knelt on his neck for nearly nine minutes. His last words, "I can't breathe," became the slogan of nationwide protests. The officer who pinned Floyd down with his knee faces an additional charge of second-degree murder, and arrest warrants have been issued for the three other officers involved in Floyd's arrest. According to the data compiled by Mapping Police Violence website, citing security sources, the rate of black people 13.4% of the population killed by police was two and a half times higher than white people in 2013 to 2019.
