Description

The 27th of April marked the day South Africa held its first free democratic elections 23 years ago. Before then students around - country marched against the forced use of the Afrikaans language as a medium in schools. They demanded to use their own languages. Now 23 years later, Dr Hleze Kunju a doctoral graduate wrote hisl thesis in his home language of IsiXhosa. This has been declared a breakthrough in the educational system of the country and presents the hope towards decolonising and transforming the education system.
