The 1st of December every year marks World Aids Day. This day is meant to raise awareness and encourage the fight against the scourge of HIV/Aids in the world. UNAIDS together with the South African Minister of Health Dr Aaron Motswaledi has launched a report in Cape Town, South Africa, the report looks at the latest estimates of the number of people living with HIV who have access to the life-saving antiretroviral therapy globally as well as in South Africa the country with the largest Aids epidemic in the world. In 2016 alone South Africa saw about 270 000 new infections and almost 110 000 AIDS related deaths.
To help us unpack and discuss this further we are joined on the line by:
1. Dr Lungile Bhengu Baloyi Chairperson of the Board Aids Foundation South Africa
2. Dr Adrian Puren Acting Executive Director (National Institute of Communicable Diseases)
