SANParks has denied that the strike by members of the Health and Other Services Personnel Trade Union of South Africa (HOSPERSA) at national parks, has affected its services. It says most workers are not on strike and that the contingency measures put in place are effective. HOSPERSA consists of rangers, field guides, cleaners and security guards. The workers allege that their employer is ignoring their demands. The strike was suspended last week after SA National Parks tabled a new offer of 6,1 percent. SANParks runs 19 national parks including prime tourist resorts Kruger National Park, Table Mountain National Park and the Karoo National Park. SANParks Head of Communications Janine Raftopoulos says operations are running smoothly.
