The past few months has seen violent protests over issues of crime, housing and education. In some areas around Soweto motorists had their cars stoned when residents were protesting over proper housing while last week protest action turned violent outside Hoërskool Overvaal in Vereeniging over language issues. Looking at all these incidents, why were they so violent? Is the people’s anger misguided and where do we point the finger to? What is behind all this anger?
