This week on Enjoying Orange Slices with Jeff & Ian 🍊🏒
Ian kicks things off with an all-time intro for Rick Ball (yes… the "Chicago Bulls" line makes an appearance 😂), and then the guys settle in with one of Canada's top voices in hockey—now calling Chicago Blackhawks games on Chicago Sports Network. From Bedard's next step to the grind of calling an 82-game season, this one is equal parts hockey insight and pure hang.
In This Episode:
What it's really like calling games during a rebuild—and how you keep it real without getting negative
Why Connor Bedard took a big step forward (and the one thing Rick says he improved most)
Chicago's "tower" defense: huge young D-men, elite PK talk, and how the blue line is being built for the future
The value of vets like Nick Foligno and what leadership looks like in a young room
Deep dish vs thin crust: Rick's legendary first-week-in-Chicago pizza story 🍕
Broadcaster life: prep routines, travel, sleep (or lack of it), and why blowouts are the hardest games to call
A heartfelt tribute/story about Jim Robson and the broadcaster lineage that shaped so many careers
