Description

This week’s podcast revisits a paper from the mid 1980s – one which owes in origins to work done in the late 60s and early 70s – and argues that we need to think about the purpose and process of movement. The simple idea of thinking “why are we moving?” (i.e. to what purpose?) then allows us to think about “how we are moving” (i.e. the process). In this way we don’t move in the same way for every activity but think of how to best achieve our aims. The podcast concludes by suggesting that, currently and historically, the process often comes before the purpose but by flipping the equation we might just end up with different results.
