For the religious leaders to ask Jesus for a sign after they had witnessed many of His miracles was a further rejection of Jesus by this group. The disciples continue to show their lack of faith even though they participated in the miracles of Jesus feeding a group of 5,000 and 4,000 men, not including women and children.
