Mayor Steve Benjamin earned his bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of South Carolina and a juris doctor from the UofSC Law School. He is a former UofSC student body president and the first African-American mayor in Columbia's history.
The Give Black Podcast-a-Thon was originally recorded during a 12-hour event streamed live on Aug. 28 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Give Black benefitted USC’s One Creed, One Carolina campaign, which supports initiatives that elevate and encourage Black students, faculty and staff. Together, our 5 hosts and over 20 guests helped raise more than $10,000 for the campaign over 12 hours.
