At the Winter Solstice the Dawnish Assembly took advantage of the opportunity to make contact with the many Dawnish houses scattered across Dawnguard and the adjacent regions in the Barrens. Most are yeofolk; the Druj carried out a series of brutal executions of the Dawnish nobility designed to cow the spirits of those who remained. But there are a few noble houses who manage to maintain estates here still, surviving as best they can under the spectre of the Druj occupation. Of all the groups in the Barrens, they are the only ones inclined to embrace a diplomatic approach, where other groups have a troubled history with the Empire, the Dawnish contingent's primary concern is for what will happen after the Barrens is conquered, not what has gone before.
