Hello...thanks for listening!
In the U.S. it's close to Independence Day, a huge holiday celebrated. It was freedom from Britain on July 4, 1776.
This year with the overturning of Roe v Wade and many rights being restricted, it's making me question Independence Day.
Womens' bodies are governed by their state with the overturning of Roe v Wade and it really wasn't that long ago that women (white women) could vote. It was only in 1920 in fact.
I was listening to a podcast recently and they were mentioning that that isn't all that long ago.
And if you're a person of color it was only since 1965 that you could vote...even more recent...less than 60 years!
This all makes me think...it's Independence Day in the U.S. but to whom?
