Trust is the driving factor.
People want to KNOW you = mere exposure.
People want to like you = likeable/loveable.
People want to TRUST you.
Trust is missing for some many business owners and it's not just a dick measuring contest.
Building trust - The Speed of Trust by Stephen M.R Covey
- Talk straight = at their level, honest, and call like it is.
- care about other people = going beyond just credit card transaction. Community is built through care of others not just yourself.
- Declare your intent = what you see is what you get and that's okay.
- Make things right, apologize, save the relationship.
- Give credit to others, speak as if people are there,
- Get better - seek feedback and improvement.
- Confront reality.
- have clear expectation - under promise overdeliver is out.
- be accountable with yourself first and then others.
- listen more than you are speaking + validate.
- Keep your commitments and do what you say.
- extend trust FIRST!
While this is good leadership - what people are craving is the idea that someone could deeply support them

- in-person + phone calls (when DMs feel too much)
- Referrals
- Newton's third law - an objection that is in motion will stay in motion for a great or equal force.
- network and connection.
- When to offer free.
