Description

In today's episode of Overpowering Emotions, I discuss hoarding disorder and key areas of intervention.

There are many areas that need to be addressed to be effective in helping individuals with hoarding. First, we need to have a strong working relationship with the individual. Trust, collaboration, and listening to their story is key. Having a thorough understanding of what is going on for them within their unique context is also important to develop a personal model about hoarding.

With that understanding, we can then design an effective systems-based treatment plan that includes boosting motivation, skill-building, rewiring the brain, and generalizing skills.

Be sure to check out today's episode to hear specific details about effective treatment planning!
