“Toys”—a great representative word for the “stuff” we are constantly tempted to buy, use and enjoy for ourselves. Our culture, now driven mostly by online shopping, leads us to evaluate and assess the value of products, services and experiences when we encounter them online. But there is a larger issue at play: the more wealth we have, the more money we make, the more we are tempted by the message that we need to fill our lives with “toys” instead of participating in God’s generosity. God made you for this generosity, which comes from him and is expressed most in the life of his son, Jesus!
