Compassion given at an arm’s length is not really compassion. Compassion is received best when it is embodied. When someone has experienced it first hand and then extends that same compassion to another in need.
This Sunday we are continuing our summer series through the book of Jonah by looking at Jonah chapter 2. In this chapter Jonah’s stubborn and callous heart is broken. He realizes his own need for compassion, experiences God’s compassion, and then is able to be sent out to preach a message of compassion which he now personally embodies.
As we prepare to reflect further on the topic of compassion, read and pray through Jonah chapter two and ask yourself, how have I experienced compassion, and can I be a person who embodies that same compassion to others?
I look forward to worshiping with you all on Sunday!
