Description

If we want the right thing then why won’t God give it to us?

We all know that we often want the wrong things. We all know that we can often be consumed by what we want. Of course we should avoid these dangers of wanting. However, if we want something that is good and right, if we want to be free from something that is clearly no good at all, why would God not provide what we are asking for?

On this third week of Advent we look at the example of the Apostle Paul who wanted something good and right, and God said no. We can all point to real experiences of asking God to provide and then he did not. What does this mean about God? What does this mean about us?

Read 2 Corinthians 12:7-10 over the weekend. Meditate on it. Pray through it. It is not a typical Advent passage, but it will teach us much about wanting and waiting, and how God loves and provides when at first it seems like he is not even listening.

I can’t wait to worship together.
