Description

It’s common as Christians for most of our communal meals together to begin with the liturgical practice of saying grace. A majority of us are in the habit of pausing before we enjoy our food to give thanks to God for the day, for our company, for our food, and of course for the cook.

As with any habitual practice, sometimes we forget why we really say grace and what the act of saying grace does to us. For many of us, we may even have a stock prayer that just rolls off our tongues without much thought. This Sunday we are going explore this practice of saying grace by looking at Psalm 104. A psalm that reminds us how wonderful the gift of food is, and then moves us to say grace with deep and profound gratitude around our tables.

Prior to our service on Sunday, spend a minute or two before saying grace at the dinner table to pause and ask yourself and/or your family why you are about to pray. Maybe even open up Psalm 104 and read it before you pray and enjoy your meal. Let those reflections lead you to delight more in God and the food you are about to enjoy.

I look forward to worship with you this Sunday!
