*Sexual assault/trigger alert.
This Sunday we will study Genesis 34. It’s an intense chapter, full of abuse. It starts with sexual abuse, then neglect abuse, and concludes with physical abuse.
These are heavy topics that can bring up traumatic memories for many people, including many of us. As we approach a chapter like Genesis 34, would you begin by simply praying. Pray for those who have been abused, pray for those who have abused others, and pray for our church as we learn together how to properly respond to abuse. If you have kids and/or students with you during the sermon, it’d be great to have conversations with them ahead of time and also afterward.
God is not silent about abuse and neither should the church be!
