Think of a well known person of contemporary history that you respect the most. What would you rather have? An email they sent you that you printed out on your home printer or a handwritten letter, personally signed? What is the difference? Am I being overly sentimental, or is there something different about actually touching the paper they touched, reading words written with their own hand, smelling the faintest scent of where the letter originated?
God wanted his world to touch his glory. So he sent Jesus. Jesus wants our neighbors to touch the same. So he sends us. It is a mission of staggering significance. What do we do? How do we do it?
This Sunday we will take our final look at the prayer of Jesus in John 17. He prays that through us our neighbors would be able to touch the glory of God. Take a few minutes this weekend to read and pray through this prayer of Jesus. I can’t wait to hear from him together.
