God often chooses the unremarkable in ways that undermine our expectations. God chose a Peter, a nobody with no pedigree from nowhere important to be the foundation of the community of believers, establishing a bedrock on the Grace of God, the Gift of the Message, and the Response of Faith. What does this mean for the function of the Church?
