Description

This week, Pastor Luke continued on with our faith series with the person and story of Enoch, found in Hebrews 11: 5-6.

We first read about Enoch in Genesis 5: 22-24 which says that Enoch walked with God, and that God took him.

The goal for all followers of Jesus should be to walk with God all the days of our lives, as Enoch did. Enoch’s faith was practical, tangible, hopeful, and honest. He was a renowned, publicly known man, famous for being seventh from Adam. He lived in a world that was not for God, and he lived his life standing up for Him.

In order to walk with someone, you need to have a reconciled, unified relationship with them. You cannot walk with somebody you are ashamed of, and you need to be walking alongside them in the same direction, and at the same pace. Our relationship with the Lord should reflect all of these qualities.

The life with God is a life that pleases God. Enoch’s faith was rooted in what God is like, not because of what he was like. We need to see and obey God for who He truly is, and not what we ourselves think, feel, or need in any moment. We can not view God in our own image, and the basis of our theology can not be transactional. Enoch did not see God as an avenue to blessing in his life, but rather God was the blessing.
