Description

This week was Vision Sunday, and Pastor Matthew shared about the past, present, and future of Waypoint Church.

2020 was an interesting year for everybody. It was a year shaped by covid, racial tensions, divisions and political uproar. The church at large suffered through great pain; with people divided, leaving the church, being un-kind to one another, and acting out in crazy ways.

However, it is important to remember that although a wrench was thrown into our plans, it was not thrown into the Lord’s plans. We were given space to slow down and press into our relationships with the Lord. This is where we still stand today. As a church we urge you to put Jesus and His Kingdom priority over everything else, and from that place pursue unity with one another.

We must put our hope in the Lord alone and call others to do the same. We must give ourselves to Jesus every day; making Him our sole plan and purpose.

2020 held some great lessons for us a church. It taught us that there is a committed core, and that people are beginning to understand the importance of slowing down. Our Life Groups are getting better, and we have five long term teams in the nations who are doing well. Our staff is strong and committed, and the body has continued to give generously. We have endured many painful issues together but remain united.

Looking for the future we will continue to press into four areas:

The pursuit of slowed down spirituality, for the purpose of being with Jesus and with one another.
A focus on beneath the surface discipleship.
The goal of reaching cities and nations for Jesus locally and abroad.
Living on mission and reaching others with the Good News.

We are to take off the old clothes and put on the new. To keep our eyes on Jesus, His purpose and His mission.
