One of the great comforts of life is to know that God keeps His promises. No matter how low life may get, no matter how difficult the days, God keeps His promises.
The Bible teaches that God cannot lie (Titus 1:2). His promises are “Yes and Amen” (2 Corinthians 1:20,21). God swore by Himself because there was none greater.
H.G. Spafford was a very successful businessman in the 1800’s. Yet, due to terrible consequences, he lost everything he had. Some time later, he lost his four beautiful daughters in a shipwreck. Upon learning the news Spafford wrote the following words,
“When peace like a river attendeth my way,
When sorrow like sea billows roll,
Whatever my lot, thou hast taught me to say,
It is well, It is well with my soul.”
Spafford understood what it meant to rely on the promises of God. If you are lacking peace in your life, investigate the promises of God, and fashion your life accordingly. “Cast your cares upon Him for He cares for you.” (1 Peter 5:7).
