We come to the end of our journey with Ruth and marvel at the conclusion of this beautiful story. We hunger for such an ending to our story and wonder if God can do something new and fresh with our lives. The Scriptures insist that there is this mysterious, divine, remarkable transformation that happens for anyone who is in Christ. Our job is to be like clay in the potter’s hand. To be available and ready and willing to grow and learn and be inspired by the work of God in us.
The one thing we cannot do, dare not do, is to remain where we are and stifle the work of the Lord in us and through us. We must remain open to the new things, better things, nobler things and healthier things He wants to do in our lives each day. We’ll see how this happened for Ruth and learn how this can happen for us. In the meantime, read Ruth 4:13-22 ahead of this weekend (and see if you can find at least two really odd things about the genealogy at the end!).
