We are launching a three-week series this Sunday, looking at some revolutionary ideas Jesus unleashed that were game changers. This weekend, I will look at one of the most remarkable passages in the book of Acts. It documents how the church was formed, how it functioned, and what it was known for in its earliest days. This passage is crucial if we are to catch the vision for us as a church and as individuals. Imagine a community where we continue to form and sustain a culture where people bring people to meet Jesus, where every follower of Jesus is on a pathway of growth, and disciples making disciples become the norm. Imagine people embodying the church in their homes, neighborhoods, workplaces and every domain of our region and beyond. Imagine a place in our world where each person discovers their soul’s innermost purpose and missional impulse to make a difference in our world (where anyone can come, no one is perfect, and extraordinary things start to happen). Then imagine every individual in DRCC fully grasping what God offers us in Jesus and living out of that identity – a child of God, redeemed, restored and reconciled; knowing that in Jesus, your past has no power over you and your future is secure. And in Jesus, you get to be part of the church that hell can’t stop!
