What do you do when you read a passage of scripture that confuses (or worse yet, disturbs) you? Traditionally there are three options:
1. Ignore the passage all together and focus on others
2. Try to qualify or contextualize the passage to soften it or make it more palatable
OR
3. Dig in deep and try to figure out what it’s really saying and why
This week we will be tackling the Parable of the Shrewd Manager and it is historically a parable that has elicited either option 1 or 2. We, of course, will take option 3 and try to find out what on earth this passage means and why on earth Jesus, through Luke, thought it was important to include in scripture.
