We continue this week in our series “He is Risen Indeed!” by taking a look at how the Jesus movement went viral. Working through the first couple of chapters in the book of Acts, we will discover some crucial insights on the kind of people we were created to be and the amazing, tremendous, expansive task our Lord began at Easter and now trusts us with. Just like the world of the early church, a world of “deep darkness and flickering starlight, where terrible things happen and wonderful things too, a world where goodness is pitted against evil, love against hate, order against chaos, in a great struggle where often it is hard to be sure who belongs to which side because appearances are endlessly deceptive,”* we too are called to be witnesses to the good news that Jesus is risen indeed! And the news of the creation of new community in Jesus goes viral—then and now, with its glorious creator and designer and its most marvelous resident leading the way. The God whose presence fills each person with uncommon love, unceasing joy, undying hope, and unwavering courage. May’s God’s Spirit fill each of you as we work together to fulfill His mission.
