The story of John, the youngest disciple of the original gang of 12 who followed Jesus, is a transformation story. Not sudden change like Saul who became the apostle Paul after his dramatic encounter with the risen Christ on the road to Damascus, but a lifetime of gradual change. Through association with Jesus, the disciple John went from being a “son of thunder” to a wise old gentleman who constantly reminded his congregations to “love one another.” Over time, he was transformed by grace. The same experience is available to all who will do like John and persistently press close to Jesus.
