The word “submit” has 6 letters but oftentimes feels like a 4-letter word in our culture. It has been misunderstood and misapplied. James pulls no punches and calls all believers to submit themselves to God. Then he gives two bold statements. The first is, “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.” The second, “Humble yourself before the Lord and He will lift you up.” Submission leads to exaltation.
