Mark 10:17-31, Luke 5:1-11
Peter’s boat was empty; the rich man’s house was full of possessions.
Peter had room for God’s provision; the rich man had no earthly need.
Jesus’ presence made both men aware of their need for salvation.
The rich man sought eternal life with high expectations. Jesus sought Peter and his friends who had no expectations.
Peter humbled himself, but the rich man left sad.
Peter and his partners left everything to follow Jesus; the rich man went back to his possessions. Luke 1:53
Peter obeyed Jesus and was blessed, but the rich man left unchanged.
Peter’s life is well-documented in scripture; the rich man’s life is not.
