Description

David recognizes his personal relationship with his God. At times such as today we too need a shepherd to walk alongside of us, one who looks after, cares, protects and leads to green pastures, brings peace, restores our soul.

The shepherd metaphor, with all its varied expressions, raises the historical memory of a people shepherded by God. Unique to Psalm 23, however, is the extremely personal expression of God’s care. Nowhere else in the Bible does anyone say, “the Lord is my shepherd.” Herein lies the key to the vibrancy of this psalm

We learn from David it’s the Lord who is our shepherd, it’s to him that David points us to.

Jesus is portrayed in John chapter 10 as our good shepherd,

A shepherd who laid down his life for us 11 “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. Jesus unlike other shepherds laid his life down that we might know him. Today that good shepherd is here for us, He is truly the only one who can fully restore our soul, bring us to that quiet place.
