This week’s passage contains one of Jesus’ most well-known parables, the parable of the good Samaritan. Jesus will use this parable to do far more than answer a lawyer’s question about who his neighbor is or to help him understand what it means to be a “good” neighbor. Jesus will use this parable to expose the man’s sinful self-justifying heart and show him (and us) our great need for God’s mercy.
