God’s redemptive plan includes only one root. Ethnic Jews and ethnic Gentiles receive the promises of the New Covenant in the same way; by being grafter in to the root, by faith. In this passage, Paul warns against pride and he warns against assuming you are part of the root because you appear to be outwardly. Salvation does not come through tradition but by grace through faith.
