Nothing Hidden

Mark 4:22

For there is nothing hidden which will not be revealed.

Colossians 3:4

“When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.”

The word “appears” is to lay bare, reveal, uncover, make visible, make known what has been hidden or unknown, make clear. Mark 4:22b says, “nor has anything been kept secret but that it should come to light.” It saddens my heart as I watch how God begins His judgment in the House of the Lord. My mind struggles with the thought of how leaders, pastors, and evangelists can preach and teach such powerful teachings from the Word of God yet think they can deceptively be living another kind of life in secret. Yet can any of us judge others so harshly without searching our own hearts and asking the Holy Spirit to reveal to us things that may be hidden within us? There have been times when for a season I have harbored resentment and borderline anger and bitterness within me. I have had to spend long hours before the Lord, asking the Holy Spirit to help me, cleanse me, release me from all of this rage that was within me. And you know what? To this very day that besetting bundle of emotions tries to surface to the top of my soul and take charge and have free rain within me yet once again. I have not been without sin and struggle. I must not be so smug thinking somehow, I am better than another because I have not committed adultery or some other besetting sin. We ALL stand level at the foot of the Cross. Luke 12:3 tells us, “Therefore whatever you have spoken in the dark will be heard in the light, and what you have spoken in the ear in inner rooms will be proclaimed on the housetops.” God will unmask everything, all the hypocrisy, haughtiness and better-than-thou stance. Our Father wants our hearts pure and clean before Him daily. No pretense, no pharisaical nose in the air. Remember, Jesus paid it all for each one of us, sinner and saint. It is His precious blood that washes us all clean and daily covers us. Thank Him for His grace. Yes, we can be upset and battle discouragement over those who have fallen. Pray for their families, their staff and church family. What heartache and trauma they must suffer! Be kind with your words and opinions. Pray for wisdom for those who are having to do cleanup and salvage and protect the people of God and their families who are close to the failures. Life can be cruel. Life can be kind. What will we help it to be? Cruel or kind? But for the grace of God, there go I or someone I truly love. The old song goes, “Mercy rewrote my life, mercy, rewrote my life. I could have fallen, my soul cast down, but mercy rewrote my life.”

What about you? What is your posture like when you see those who are well known fall in front of the whole world? Is it, “Well, that are getting what they deserve, or do you pray for the Lord to help all concerned as only He knows best for all? God help us to be wise, and to remember what is hidden will be revealed and shouted out for all to hear. Abba, help us to walk humbly before You. Amen. Blessings on your day.
