He Has Made Everything Beautiful In His Time

Ecclesiastes 3:1-11

1 There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens: 2 a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, 3 a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build, 4 a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance, 5 a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing, 6 a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away, 7 a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak, 8 a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace. 9 What do workers gain from their toil? 10 I have seen the burden God has laid on the human race. 11 He as made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.

There are times in my life when I literally stress myself out with frustration and worry over something or someone who I could be stressed and worried from now through eternity and it would not change one thing in that situation, other only cause to me to be miserable in every way, spirit, soul, and body, even to the point of my blood pressure having gone up too high. God has everything, and I mean everything, timed out to the minutest second of time. We have no control over the timing of our lives nor the seasons of our lives. We can’t stop growing as a child, unless we’re desperately ill. We will grow from infant size into a full-grown adult without any pressure we can put on ourselves to grow, other than starving or mutilating ourselves. God’s seasons will come. Aging will come to us all, no matter how proudly we may proclaim when we are young and full of VIP and vinegar, that we will always be strong and vigorous, yet given the passing of time, the knees begin to ache, the eyes begin to dim, and bedtime can look pretty good at a much earlier hour than when we were young. There is great beauty with each season, especially for those of us who live in the Northeast, the coming and going of each one expected and pretty much celebrated, other than that long winter who always takes his time leaving. Spring with its new babylike intro of little nests and baby birds, to budding hyacinths perfuming our flower plots as a greeting to renewal again. Summer, with its tantalizing warmth, and fall, oh fall with its magnificent display of color. And yet, once again winter makes his grand entrance with frigid cold and challenging snow yet shining so mesmerizingly after a storm. Such is life, one season almost leaving and another entering seemingly unnoticed. Yet our passage today tells us God knows each day and hour of each season of our lives. How easy it is to get lost in time, not realizing each day takes us closer to our eternal home. But here’s the question—are we recognizing each season of our lives and drinking in the nectar and goodness of each one, or do we grudgingly just trod through it always looking over the horizon for a supposed better day and hour? Lord help us to be present in the season we are in. Helpful to be mindful of the beauty and blessing of each day. Help us, Lord to live to the fullest, enjoying our life and having a firm grasp that You make all things, all seasons beautiful in our lives in Your time and in Your way.

What about you? Are you seeing the beauty of the season you presently are in? Are you discontent and choosing to be sad and disappointed or are you full of God’s love and joy, making and embracing happiness as your choice? I pray you are. Have a beautiful day in Him.
