Disciples on Mission
Rev. Ho-Ming Tsui
Luke 10:1-11
3 Critical Ideas Disciples on Mission Must Embrace (Luke 10)
———
1. A Strategy: You are sent together by Jesus (v. 1-2)
Why did Jesus send out the disciples in pairs, rather than individually?
1. Cultural Reason
2. Practical reason
3. Theological reason
———
2. A Shepherd: You can rely on and trust Jesus (v. 3-4)
———
3. A Sign: You meet with people whose hearts and home are open to you (v. 5-8)
The sign is a person who is…
a. Receptive to you.
• Hospitality
• Help
• Heart
b. Open doors for you
———
Conclusion (v. 9-11):
The night is almost gone; the day of salvation will soon be here. So remove your dark deeds like dirty clothes, and put on the shining armor of right living. Because we belong to the day, we must live decent lives for all to see. Don’t participate in the darkness of wild parties and drunkenness, or in sexual promiscuity and immoral living, or in quarreling and jealousy. Instead, clothe yourself with the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ.
—Romans 13:12-14 (NLT)
