Sermon Notes
Introduction
1. In the darkness of the world around us, God in Christ, came from His heavenly home to bring His light in the darkness.
Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you. See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the Lord rises upon you and his glory appears over you.
—Isaiah 60:1-2
Christ came from His heavenly home to:
- Fulfill the messianic prophecies of Israel
- Light up the darkness in the world
2. The incarnation proved that He loved us as He humbled Himself by taking human form and making reconciliation with God possible.
3. We are to have the same attitude as Christ. To live out our calling as His ambassadors of reconciliation in word and deed.
- Christ came to reconcile all people to be part of God’s family (Eph 2:11-22)
- Because we are reconciled to God, we are now ambassadors of Christ: we are invited into the ministry of reconciliation! (2 Cor 5:17-20)
