Sermon notes
———
God has given each of us a purpose for living. And only in fulfilling God’s purpose for us will we be truly satisfied and live a significant life that God approves. Doing what God desires and living how God designed us is the greatest possible life investment.
When we study the life of John the Baptist, we discover that there are four steps we must take to fulfill God’s purpose for our lives.
1. Make A Vow!
• John’s choices and lifestyle show us that he made a vow, a solemn promise to God, that he will serve the Lord all the days of his life.
2. Know His Will!
• Knowing his will is a result of our consistent nurturing of our prayer life, our diligent study of God’s Word, and our wholehearted obedience to his revealed instructions.
3. Heed His Call!
• The word “heed” emphasizes the idea of “paying close attention with anticipation.” As we live our daily lives, we must anticipate that God may prompt us to do something for him.
4. Finish Well!
• Serving the Lord requires humility. Humility is possible only when we understand that serving God is an honour in itself because we are not worthy to serve the Lord.
