I. GOD HAS A PLAN.
Ekklesia (Church) – an assembly of citizens that convene at the marketplace, representing the governmental system, making decisions that impact that city.
II. GOD PREPARES US TO BE ON MISSION.
He Shakes Us Out of Our Old System into the New:
1. We Grow Through Tension
Acts 10: 11 He saw heaven opened and something like a large sheet being let down to earth by its four corners. 12 It contained all kinds of four-footed animals, as well as reptiles and birds. 13 Then a voice told him, “Get up, Peter. Kill and eat.” 14 “Surely not, Lord!” Peter replied. “I have never eaten anything impure or unclean.”
TENSION:
Trust in our Lord with all our Heart VS How much should I try myself.
It is in these TENSIONS that we ask for faith and grace.
It is easy to agree with the truth when you are not in the tension of it. When you are living in the tension, you can lose sight of the truth.
2. We Move Forward with New Mindset
Acts 10:15 The voice spoke to him a second time, “Do not call anything impure that God has made clean.”
- God breaks our mental barriers and gives us new mindsets.
Acts 10: 19 While Peter was still thinking about the vision, the Spirit said to him, “Simon, three men are looking for you.
Not about dietary choices. It’s about what God is about to do ANEW!
Not about the Virus. It’s about what God is about to do ANEW!
3. We Are Changed As We Minister By Faith
Acts 10: 20 So get up and go downstairs. Do not hesitate to go with them, for I have sent them.
Acts 11:16 Then I remembered what the Lord had said: ‘John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.’ 17 So if God gave them the same gift he gave us who believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I to think that I could stand in God’s way?
These are hard times, yet these are exciting times. Not only will the Church survive, we will thrive.
