Easter Sunday

Our Redeemer Lives

Rev. Reuben Foncardas

Scripture: 1 Corinthians 15:1-58

1 Corinthians 15 contains the most concise and complete gospel message in the Bible. Verses 3-5 are the heart of the gospel which was an early Christian confession. This confession is two-fold: Christ died for our sins, and Christ was raised from the dead. His death and resurrection are the pillars of Christianity. Without either of them, there would be no Christianity.

1. Be steadfast: Christ's resurrection is a historical fact (v. 1-11)

• Christ's resurrection is not a product of man's reasoning or imagination.

• Christ's resurrection is verified by Scriptures (cf. Ps. 16:10, Isa. 53:8-10)

• Christ's resurrection is verified by historical evidence

2. Be immovable: Christ’s resurrection is a monumental fact (v. 12-19)

• Christ's resurrection proves that Jesus is God (cf. Rom. 1:4)

• Christ's resurrection validates the message of the cross

• Christ's resurrection eliminates the grave consequences if there is no resurrection of the dead

3. Be diligent: Christ’s resurrection is a transformational fact (v. 20-23, 50-58)**

• Christ's resurrection reverses the consequences of Adam's sin

• Christ's resurrection brings life to all who belong to him

• Christ's resurrection guarantees the destiny of those who believe in him (cf. 1 Thes. 4:16)
