Rev. Reuben Foncardas
Scripture: Psalm 62:1-12
In life’s most threatening times, you will be at peace if God alone is your shield, your salvation, and your stronghold.

- Wait quietly before God.
- Wait patiently before God.
2. Fight to sustain peace in God alone. (vv. 5-8)
- Tell yourself to find rest in God alone.
- Tell others to find rest in God alone.
3. Focus on trusting in God alone. (vv. 9-12)
- Do not trust in men, in crime, or in riches.
- Trust in God who is powerful, loving, and just.
Small Group Discussion Questions:
1. Describe a time when you were falsely accused, slandered, gossiped, or threatened. How did you react? Looking back, what would you do differently in the way you addressed the situation?
2. David expressed his own painful experience in Psalm 62:3-4. How did he respond to his situation according to verses 1-2 and 5-8? How did David overcome his fear? How did he experience peace in the face of death threats?
3. Where is the proper balance between trusting in God alone versus using plans and methods for deliverance?
4. What do you think of the following statement by Martyn Lloyd-Jones: “Have you realized that most of your unhappiness in life is due to the fact that you are listening to yourself instead of talking to yourself?” How does this relate to Psalm 62:5?
5. Read Psalm 42:5. Follow David’s example of rebuking/exhorting himself. Fill in the blanks to apply to your own situation. “Why so _____________ oh my soul? Put your _______________ in God!” Share your answer with your group and then pray for each other.
