This City Will Be Bright
Pastor Maymie Lau
Matthew 5:14-16
14 “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.
Matthew 5:14-16

Introduction: Why is this city illuminated?
To illuminate the city, we need to understand:
———
1. You are the light
And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. 4 And God saw that the light was good. And God separated the light from the darkness. 5 God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, the first day.
Genesis 1:3-5

2. How Does God See The Church?
Church does not refer to the Church building. We are the Church.
Ekklesia: A group of people gathering at the city centre, making decisions that impacts the community.
• The Church has the largest participation.
• The Church has the biggest resources.
• The church has the longest track record.
• The church has the highest motivation.
• The church has the strongest authorization.
• The church has the greatest power.
• The Church will definitely win.

3. How Does God See the World?
The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.
2 Peter 3:9
