Together on Purpose: Part 2
Rev. Ho-Ming J. Tsui
1 Peter 2:9-12
“Love is the final apologetic. After we have done our best to communicate to a lost world, still we must never forget that the final apologetic which Jesus gave is the observable love of true Christians for true Christians.”
— Francis Schaeffer, The Mark of a Christian
“If there ever comes a day when we can’t be together, keep me in your heart, I’ll stay there forever.”
—Winnie-the-Pooh
Three Expressions of what “Together on Purpose” means:
1. We COME together because it is God’s vision (the world is different) - v. 9-10
Two Unique Challenges to Coming Together Today:
(I) Image has replaced presence
(II) Preference has replaced experience
2. We STAY together because it is God’s apologetic (the world is watching) - v. 11-12a
3. We GO together is because it is God’s method (the world needs healing) — v. 12b
