You are Loved!

Pastor Reuben Foncardas

Psalm 103:1-18

Healthy mission comes from healthy churches. Sadly, many churches today are ill. There are many symptoms of unhealthy churches. But the root causes are the deep-seated lies in the minds of believers; deceptions that produce insecurity, negativity, and renders Christians ineffective salt and light of this world. Unless treated, believers will be deprived of the abundant joy and lasting peace that have already been promised to all believers.

This sermon series will expose and demolish five lies that people tell themselves by appreciating and embracing five life-transforming scriptural truths.

1. Demolish the first lie: “You are nothing!”

• Don’t entertain thoughts that make you feel unlovable or good for nothing. If you do, you will begin to hate yourself. Instead, count your blessings and praise the Lord. (Ps. 103:1-5)

2. Direct your thoughts to Christ.

• We are at war with sin and the battle begins in the mind. We need to “take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ (2 Cor. 10:5). In other words, we choose to think only what is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent or praiseworthy (Phil. 4:8).

3. Declare the life-changing truth: “You are Loved!”

• God loves you not because you are worthy of his love, but because it is His nature to love. He loves you because God is love. (Ps. 103:6-10)

• God loves you infinitely (v. 11), graciously (v. 12), tenderly (vv. 13-16), and eternally (v.v. 17-18).
