This is a podcast produced by Longview Heights Baptist Church in Olive Branch, MS.
We are calling this “A Season of Experiencing God” because this fall, all of our church's Grow Groups are walking through the Experiencing God study. As a church, our goal in doing this study together is for each person to come to know and experience and obey God in an intimate way (personal revival), which will lead us to corporate revival… which can impact our community and beyond! We look forward to all God will do as we study together.
This past week all of our groups were introduced to the study. On the podcast, we will be talking about the main points of each unit. We will have different guests each week who are working through Experiencing God, and we will be discussing what they are learning. Hopefully, this podcast can be used as a review resource for those taking the study and a source of encouragement and information for those who weren’t able to be in a group this time.
It’s one thing to know ABOUT God, but it’s another to KNOW Him. How do we get to know someone? We spend time with them. We do things together. We talk. We listen. We engage. We care. We let them enter into our worlds as we enter into theirs.
Abraham Lincoln, for example, we know about him, but we don’t have a personal relationship with Him. The personal relationship makes all the difference.
Throughout this study, we are encouraged to keep a Spiritual Journal – a place where we can keep a record of what we’ve learned and how God is working. Prayer needs and answers, meaningful scriptures, names of God Jesus Spirit… You can do this too.
Unit 1’s verse is John 15:5 “I am the vine; you are the branches. The one who remains in me and I in him produces much fruit because you can do nothing without me.”
