Description

We continue our series on the attributes of God with generosity. While that word tends to evoke discussions around money, God is concerned with something much more foundational. Even in America, there are currencies that are clearly more precious than money. We say things like "time is money" - yet we often are willing to spend lots of money to avoid spending our time (eg, yardwork, deliveries, taxes, etc.). So which is the more precious resource to us? In that vein, we turn to a passage in which Jesus tells the story of a man who throws a great feast, but everyone is just too busy to come. They all have excuses. They all have more pressing matters to address. All of his generosity isn't worth spending their time. So he invites the only people who will come: those who know they are needy. And needy people are the only people who are truly thankful. Let's talk about "Family Resemblance: Generosity" (Luke 14:12-24).
